The meeting was called to order by President Kenny Montgomery at 7:04pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed without dissent.

Director of Health Benefits Kenny Montgomery:  

Mike Masters reported he and Greg Karalias will be attending the National health benefits seminar for October 15 - 18 and they would be bringing back information on next years policy. Mike reminded the members that open season is Monday November 13, 2017 - Monday December 11, 2017, this is the time to make changes to your health insurance for next year. There will be an open house for health benefits hosted by NARFE. Saturday November 11 from 1 - 7pm at the Radisson Hotel 175 Jefferson Road, Rochester, NY 14623.

Benefit Trust:

Financial report read to the membership with no questions or comments made.

AFL-CIO Report: Joe Dimaria:

Annual Labor Day parade we had about 28 members present. With over 800 active members we need to get more people to attend and march. Only takes a couple hours.

Political Education: Congress is coming back in session and we need to watch budget discussions closely. The current administration is waging a war on Federal employees retirement benefits.

Unfinished Business: President Montgomery:

Start time, grievance, total of $23,975 split amongst all career employees in Rochester that worked first 2 weeks in April.

 

NALC Contract, National mailed out 774 ballots. In branch 210 only 431 were returned. 423 in favor of contract and 8 against.

 

Street observations, If management is asking questions you should always ask for steward. Stop discussing street duties in public. Demand representation.

 

Local Contracts to be negotiated October-November. Poll your carriers to see if they want any changes.

 

$50 raffle for Postal Pulse Surveys, City carrier Michael Mathous won the raffle this quarter, there will be another raffle in December.

 

 

New Business: President Montgomery:

 

Pay raise for career regulars went into effect August 19 and is payable in September 2, pay check CCA pay raise will begin September 16 and is payable in paycheck dated October 6, 2017. The NALC has not been notified of a confirmed date for the back yet for regulars or CCA's. Once we get a confirmed date we will get you the information as soon as possible. The back pay WILL be part of your paycheck and will NOT be a separate check.

 

There is another COLA due September 2 and payable September 22. This COLA is $270 or .13 per hour at top pay. Those carriers on Table 2 receive a proportional COLA depending which pay step your at.

 

Any Associate office CCA being forced to come to Rochester on Sunday for Parcel delivery, you are eligible for mileage to and from your home if it is farther from your home station. You would receive .53 cent per mile for the difference in mileage to the temporary station. See your Postmaster for the form to fill lout, any problems notify the union office.

 

The new overtime rules from our new contract  go into effect on October 1, 2017. the change being that now all overtime counts in looking at equitability, and the list now must be posted weekly instead of quarterly.

 

Due to the health benefits premiums for CCA's, they will have a CCA only special open season to sign up or change health plans. from September 4 -October 19 CCA can make changes which will take affect October 28. 

 

Management in other parts of the country are changing carriers clock rings stealing time and pay from carriers. We have not had any complaints of that here but you should always watch your paycheck carefully to make sure you get paid for what you work.

 

The color coded calendar is wring for 2017 concerning Veterans Day. Veteran's Day is November 11, 2017 and the Letter Carriers holiday will be Saturday November 11, 2017.

 

The next union meeting is open to all members and is Wednesday September 6, 2017 at 7:00pm and will be held at the IBEW union hall located at 2300 East River Road, Rochester NY 14623.
