The meeting was called to order by President Kenny Montgomery at 7:04pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed without dissent.

Director of Health Benefits Michael Masters  

Mike Masters spoke about the open house for health benefits and he over 300 people in attendance on November 11, he went on to remind the members that open season ends Monday December 11, 2017, this is the time to make changes to your health insurance for next year. Do not wait until the deadline to get insured. To see new rates for 2018 click here  Retirees   Active carriers

Benefit Trust:

Financial report read to the membership with no questions or comments made.

AFL-CIO Report: Joe Dimaria:

Joe reported there will be the annual delegates dinner in December and there will be no meeting as a result for December.

Political Education: Tax reform legislation is going to pass before the end of the year. This is being reported to help large corporations and not the middle class. We will have to wait and see the outcome. It has been reported by the govt. that this reform bill will add almost 2 Trillion to our deficit. The fallout is already being felt as the debt ceiling will again have to be raised, until it is raised the Govt. is not making required payments into our retirement accounts and they are going to borrow money from the Thrift Savings G-fund. the Postal Regulatory board has authorized the Postal Service to raise postage beyond that of inflation/

Unfinished Business: President Kenny Montgomery:

Local Contracts are now finalized locally. We do have a few outstanding issues that have been elevated to arbitration in Albion, Newark, Canandaigua, Pittsford, Fairport Webster, Lyons and Victor. 

 

The union will sponsor a Defensive Driving course through AAA. Cost to union members is $18 per person and is limited to 25 people. Your reservation must be made through the union office at 427-2450 and will only be held by up front payment. Family members are welcome. Place to be decided. We need a minimum of 20 people to hold the class. without the minimum we will be forced to cancel.

 

Back pay for Career employees based on the new contract was paid out in your paycheck December 1,2017, back pay for CCA's Should be in Paycheck February 9, 2018.

 

Next contract raise was November 25, 2017, 1.3% for careers and 2.3% for CCA's. Will see it in your December 15 paycheck.

 

CFC goes through January 12, 2018, the union recommends the Postal Employees Relief Fund and MDA.

 

Uniform allowance is now $441, all accounts will be updated with the new amount retro to May 21, 2017 by the end of October. If you don't see the additional funds by November contact the union office. Call the number on back of your uniform card to hear balance on card.

 

New Business: President Montgomery:

 

Steward elections are held in January of every even year. If interested in running for steward in your unit notify the union office by January 4, 2018

 

Branch 210 has received a merger request from Scottsville NY. There will be an open discussion and vote on this merger request at the February union meeting. Scottsville branch has NO liabilities and no assets.

 

There will be a national dues increase in Pay period 1 of 2018. the increase is .89 and will be $26.57 going forward in 2018. Dues is set by the National constitution and when you get a pay raise the dues automatically increases.

 

Lew Drass's article in the December Postal Record describes the pay change under table 2 for bidding to a utility. the union is fighting this change and we will update you when more is known.

 

V-time exclusion period is December 2 - December 29. During this time of the year there is no penalty overtime paid.

 

The Convention call went out to all convention delegates for the National Convention in July, 2018. If interested in attending the convention let us know before January 26.

 

End of the year is quickly approaching. now is a good time to check your online personnel folder for errors, expired discipline and correct beneficiaries. Let the union know if there are any issues we need to address.

 

Finally we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanza, or just a great holiday season. We also want to wish you all a healthy and happy New Year.!

 

The next union meeting is open to all members and is Wednesday January 3, 2018 at 7:00pm and will be held at the IBEW union hall located at 2300 East River Road, Rochester NY 14623.
