The meeting was called to order by President Kenny Montgomery at 7:09pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed without dissent.

Director of Health Benefits Ken Montgomery:  

Mike Masters was excused. President Montgomery discussed the NALC insurance and the ending of open season on December 12. Went on to inform the membership there is no longer a 1 year waiting period for career employees to get a flexible spending account. There is a new website for flexible spending www.FSAFEDS.com

AFL-CIO Report: Joe Dimaria:

December 8th is the annual awards dinner for the labor council.

Political Education:

December 8 the Board of Governors is vacant. The board normally consists of 9 members plus the Postmaster General and Assistant Postmaster General. There will be no movement of postal reform during the lame duck session of congress

Unfinished Business: President Montgomery:

Negotiations are continuing on our contract despite the expiration of our current contract. Both parties have agreed to extend negotiations in an attempt to get a fair contract.  We are optimistic for a negotiated agreement.

 

Branch 210 held a Texas Hold-Em tournament for MDA on Sunday November 13. 16 people participated and we raised $1,036 to help Muscular Dystrophy.

 

New Business: President Montgomery:

 

Penalty overtime exclusionary period is December 3 - December 30. This is the time where there is no penalty overtime

The Postal Service has put up a website to keep retirees informed about things like open season. www.keepingposted.com

 

National President Rolando has announced Brian Renfroe is our new Executive Vice President. He has also promoted Chris Jackson to the Director of City Delivery position. Chris was a National Business Agent from California.

 

Parcel volume is up about 30% fro prior year.

 

Christmas and New years are both on Sunday this year. Contractually the Postal Service moves the holiday to Monday.

 

Branch 210 recently held an arbitration on the use of DPT and the PET tool to harass carriers. When a decision is rendered we will let the members know. That decision is expected near the end of December.

 

All members who would like their children considered for the NALC scholarships, the deadline for submission is December 31. The submission form is in your Postal Record magazine.

 

Vacation bidding is ongoing at this time. Any issues please contact the union office.

 

Once we receive a National Contract we will then begin negotiating our local agreements. Let the union office know if there are items in your local contracts you would like changed and we will do our best to negotiate them.

 

We will be holding our annual Bowl-a-thon for MDA at Terrace Lanes on Sunday January 15, 2017 from 12 - 2.

The next union meeting is open to all members and is Wednesday January 4, 2017 at 7:00pm and will be held at the IBEW union hall located at 2300 East River Road, Rochester NY 14623.
